Ego blocks you from getting what you want

You may be surprised to know that ego is the number one obstacle between you and what you want in life. Many people mistakenly believe that it's their skills or qualifications that will help them get ahead, but the truth is, unless your ego is in check, those things won't matter. In this blog post, we'll take a look at what ego is and how you can overcome its negative effects on your life. We'll also discuss some tips for keeping your ego in check so you can achieve your goals. Stay tuned!

What is Ego?

Ego can be defined as the sense of self or individual identity. It is what we use to identify with the world around us and it gives us a sense of who we are. Ego also provides us with a sense of security by making us feel like we're in control. This is why ego can be such a powerful force in our lives - it helps us feel safe and secure. However, when the ego gets out of control, it can become very destructive.

Some signs that ego is getting in the way: - You find yourself constantly comparing yourself to others - You have difficulty accepting compliments from others - You are unable to listen to the opinions of others - Ego makes you think that everything should go your way, but if it doesn't...you don't care

How Ego Blocks Us From Getting What We Want:

What's really important about understanding how ego can block us from getting what we want is that it shows us why our own limiting beliefs and behaviors might be holding us back. For example, let's say someone wants to start a blog or vlog where they share their thoughts with thousands of people. Maybe this person believes deep down inside that they aren't good enough yet because no one has told them otherwise, which could lead them not to follow through on their goals. If they were aware of these subconscious fears and doubts, they could begin to address and change them.

Ego often tells us that we're not good enough which can lead to feelings of insecurity, doubt, and fear. When these negative emotions get in the way, it becomes very difficult to take any action towards our goals because our ego has already convinced us that we won't be successful. So how do we combat this?

Tips For Reducing Ego's Negative Effects:

  • Practice self-compassion by accepting yourself for who you are
  • Look at your achievement and give yourself credit where it's due
  • Acknowledge your own strengths and weaknesses
  • Do not take things too personally, remember everyone is different

When we practice some or all these tips, we can begin to reduce the negative effects of our ego on ourselves and others. Ego is only meant to help us feel safe, secure and in control - it's not supposed to be all-powerful! So, remember that you are your own best asset no matter who tells you otherwise :)

Take a look at some tips for keeping the ego in check:

  • Overcome limiting beliefs about yourself and others by doing more research on the topic
  • Self-reflection teaches us how to communicate better with ourselves which will help eliminate negative thoughts about self-confidence
  • Keep an open mind by asking questions instead of making assumptions
  • Forgive yourself if you make mistakes because everyone makes them! YOU ARE HUMAN AFTER ALL :P

Those are just four things we can do to keep our egos in check, but there are certainly many more!

Act Now:

If you're ready for a change or if this blog post inspired any new ideas for yourself, then take some time right now to sit down with paper and pen (or computer) and identify three goals that you have. Then write out each goal along with what steps need to be taken in order to accomplish them. Do this over the next month while keeping track of how many times your ego gets in your way throughout the process. You'll be surprised at how many times you can catch it trying to influence your decisions.

The ego is very powerful, but with some awareness, we can learn how to use our ego in a healthy way instead of letting it run wild and control us. Therefore, I recommend keeping track of what happens when your ego gets involved during goal setting because you will see patterns emerge over time. We must be aware of these tendencies, so they don't prevent us from achieving success later down the road!

I've decided not to include any more sentences as this has already been started :)
